About Us

Hi, my name is Emma and we as a family moved here in December 2020, taking over at Flatt Farm Boarding Kennels from Jenny and Pat.

We didn’t move far, only from Burneside. My husband Paul is born and bred here in Kendal and I am a Lancashire lass but spent a lot of my younger years in Spain. We have 2 beautiful children, Bradley who has followed in his dad’s footsteps and is now a qualified engineer and great maintenance lad, and our daughter Mia who is mad about animals and a big inspiration here at Flatt Farm. When we can’t find her l can guarantee she is in a kennel cuddling one of the dogs! She has also just been accepted at Kendal College and will start her Animal Management Level 3 course in September 2023.

So next me, Emma... I started my early career life in mental health and elderly nursing then felt I needed a change when we started thinking about children. I started working in the beauty industry and then opened Frothimoon with my sister in December 2006. I suppose you can say that I started to get itchy feet and in lock down, and after welcoming our first fluff ball Hunter to the family, followed by Hattie in 2022, we wanted to know more. We were also looking at different properties so what happened next ……… Flatt Farm!

We saw and bought in 2020 when I started doing my qualifications and learning on the job.

Our first goal when we arrived was to put our touch to the kennels so we started our renovation work and, thanks to covid, had time to all get stuck in. It was a massive family effort but the end result was exactly what we hoped for.

I completed all my courses and in May 2021 we had our first inspection where we gained our 5 stars. Happy was an understatement...delighted and the rest! At Flatt Farm Boarding Kennels we can rely on amazing staff and great teamwork.

Directions

Coming from Kendal, when you reach Grayrigg village, take the left turning next to the church. Travel down the lane, crossing over the cattle grid and small bridge, bearing left.

Meeting another cattle grid brings you onto a country lane. Continue for 3/4 mile where you will come to a cross roads. Continue straight for another 1/4 mile and you will find us on yourright.
